Trump More Popular Than Obama and Bush at This Point in Their Second Terms

According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Trump’s approval rating (47.5%) is currently higher than both Obama’s and Bush’s at the same point in their second terms.

Considering the mainstream media narrative—which has tried to force-feed the public the idea that Trump has been ineffective in his second term—it appears a large percentage of Americans simply aren’t buying the BS.

While RealClearPolitics still shows Trump’s overall approval as underwater, not only is he more popular—or at least just as popular—as Bush and Obama were at this stage of their presidencies, but Trump himself is significantly more popular now than he was during his first term.

This could likely be attributed to the fact that he’s no longer bogged down by the ridiculous Russia investigation. And while his personnel choices are far from perfect, his team is certainly stronger than it was during his first term.

Now, both Bush and Obama struggled during their second-term midterms. So even though Trump is in a better position than he was in his first term and polling just as well as, or better than, his predecessors, that doesn’t guarantee Republicans will have a successful 2026 midterm.

To outperform historical expectations, Republicans need to deliver on the promises Trump has made. That includes passing the spending bill—likely with some changes to reinstate parts of the “Doge” cuts—and, just as importantly, Trump following through on his promise to end the war, starting with Ukraine.

If Republicans accomplish these goals, they’ll have a fighting chance to hold the House—and the Senate is likely to remain comfortably in Republican control.
