Trump Declares the Neocon Era is Dead

Trump’s speech yesterday in Saudi Arabia made one thing clear: the neoconservative/neoliberal era is dead. And as long as the America First movement remains in charge, it’s never coming back from the grave.

While the media largely ignored the substance of the speech, Trump made it crystal clear that the so-called liberal-conservative world order is finished now that he has returned to power.

He attacked the so-called “world builders” for failing to rebuild the very countries they promised they would, pointing out just how disastrous their efforts had been.

“The gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called nation-builders, neo-cons, or liberal nonprofits like those who spent trillions and trillions of dollars failing to develop Kabul, Baghdad, and so many other cities,” the president said.

“In the end, the so-called nation-builders wrecked far more nations than they built, and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves.”

“We are entering a future where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together, not bombing each other out of existence.”

No president—Republican or Democrat—has ever delivered a speech as critical of American foreign policy over the last 30 to 50 years as Trump did yesterday.

If anyone still has doubts about whether Trump is doing everything he can to end the wars in Ukraine, or even in Gaza, this speech should leave them fully assured. President Trump is keeping his campaign promise to be the Peace President—and to end these wars, or at the very least, end our involvement in them.
