Main Street Backs Trump’s Tariffs

According to a new CBS poll conducted by left-leaning YouGov, a plurality of Americans believe that tariffs will create more jobs in the United States.
The results showed that 49% of Americans believe tariffs will add jobs, 25% believe tariffs will cause job losses, and 26% believe there will be no change.

This is a somewhat surprising result, considering the media’s onslaught of negative coverage over the new tariffs. We at The Right-Wing Populist believe this is a sign that, if the administration’s messaging were better and more consistent, the tariffs would be more popular—and the administration likely wouldn’t have seen a dip in its approval rating over the last two weeks.
As reported last week, Americans are willing to endure some short-term pain if they believe it will bring long-term prosperity. If the administration tightens up its messaging—making it clear that the tariffs are for Main Street, not Wall Street—they could come out of this more popular than they were before.
Just today, NVIDIA announced it will produce for the first time supercomputers entirely in the United States, opening several new plants. The CEO stated, “Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain, and boosts our resiliency.”
