Elon Musk Blasts Trump-Backed Spending Bill

Elon Musk has just now publicly attacked the Trump-backed spending bill that passed in the House.
Musk posted the following on X:
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

This marks the first major public break between Trump and Musk, as Trump has been pressuring senators to support the bill.
While Trump and most Republican members of Congress support extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts, the bill does not address many of the spending concerns Musk—and others—have raised.
This may be why Musk has gone public with his criticism of the bill.
There has also been public pressure for Congress to codify the Doge spending cuts into law, with many House Republicans stating that should be a priority.
It remains to be seen whether President Trump will respond to Musk’s criticism, especially given how strongly he has backed the bill.
Trump recently held a press conference to celebrate Elon Musk’s departure from Doge, as his time as a temporary government employee had reached its deadline.
